Download the latest tunes optimized for the Super X Updated 6/27/05 8352.xdt - Improved 8351.xdt tune After loading the 8351 some people have reported a slight stumble when the bike was cold. When developing the 8350/8351 tunes I had removed a little too much of the warmup enrichment. This is fixed in the 8352. It is identical to the 8351 (EGT0505oli) in all other aspects. Updated 5/18/05 EGT0505 (8350.xdt) - This is the second generation of EGT reducing tunes for the Super X. This tune was developed with a wideband O2 sensor in addition to EGT sensors. The APS maps for both cylinders were accurately calibrated over several weeks of data logging. This allows for a more precise reduction in EGT based on the real A/F ratio. more EGT0505 details, including dyno results. EGT0505oli (8351.xdt) - This version is identical to the EGT0505 tune except that it runs open loop at idle. It minimizes the "loping" idle which many bikes have when idling in closed loop. You will need to upgrade to SuperXtune v2.04 to download these tunes. for your free upgrade. ******* EGT0505 COMPARISON TO 8320 ******* Data has been collected running the EGT0505 tune and the standard 8320 tune (Laughlin) for comparison. The first table shows the EGT data for the rear cylinder (#2) running the 8320. Across the top are RPM column headings while down the left side the units on the rows are Total Intake Area (throttle position). There are 3 values listed for each data point as follows:
Each data point represents a cell in the APS map. The peak of 1663 F occurs at mid-level cruise, but even more of a concern are some of the WOT peak values approaching 1600 F with the average over 1400 F at 5500 rpms.
EGT data running the Standard 8320 for cylinder #2
This next table shows cylinder #2 data collected on the same day (actually shortly after the 8320 run) running the EGT0505. The peak is 1450 F at mid- level cruise, and the WOT values are significantly reduced with averages below 1300 F and peaks below 1400 F.
EGT data running the EGT0505 (8351.xdt) for cylinder #2
This data was collected on a bike with the east coast air kit and slash cuts with drilled out freeze plugs. No other breathing modifications. Remember to adjust leakage for smoothest idle after downloading. You may also want to reset the Adaptive Stepper and/or Closed Throttle Trim. EGT0305 (8330.xdt) - This is the first tune released to address the Super X's high exhaust gas temperatures. It is based on the 8320. It lowers EGT by over 100 degrees F at critical operating points. It also increases Base idle advance for both cylinders. This lowers heat and vibration at idle and reduces engine load, lowering fuel consumption slightly. Slight improvements have been made to the ignition and A/F ratio maps as well. For those bikes with CAMs this tune should work well because closed loop operation is maintained over the majority of operating points. You may want to experiment with increasing fuel at WOT by lowering A/F #2. Tuning Setup Here is the EGT sensor on the front exhaust pipe. Click on the picture to enlarge.

The wideband O2 sensor and driver circuit.
Both wideband O2 sensors mounted on the bike ~12" from the cylinder head. Nice welds Tim!
